This year I am in the digital studio, which means making movies for my comrades and me. Lots of work but lots of fun. The only problem is that my computer blew up, yes even had smoke coming out of the back, and its still not fixed, maybe tomorrow? I'm also working at this totally cool new T-shirt shop. The owners even let me design and build some things, which turned out pretty good for my first project for real people. Anyhoo, I guess I haven't posted anything in quite some time. I wish I could say that I have been really busy doing all sorts of fun things, but the fact of the matter is that I’ve just been doing alot of homework, and or sitting in my room watching movies. Perhaps there are a couple highlights. I watched the Liverpool AC Milan game in an Irish pub. Beer was expensive but actually seeing some enthusiastic people was excellent. Plus is was the most insane game EVER, down three nil in the first half, Liverpool scores three goals in six minutes. Then thirty minutes of extra time, only to win in the shootout. Needless to say the place was crazy. I have decided Americans don't know how to be fans, not like this. Later this week we had our last ERAMUS party, this one was three hundred international students on a large boat on the Vatava. I was amazing tons of fun till some of the Spaniards started throwing tables into the river, we docked soon after and were forced off only to reconvene at nebe. The fun is over for a few days its back to studio and laundry........

one jacket_two jacket_[no jacket]

For some reason winter is back. Last night we went to a party and i had to wear two coats. The party was super fun lots of people. Our friend Grant had his family in town and brought them along. So it was a bunch of erasmus kids plus Grant's mom, two aunts, and grandma. Too funny. They stayed till like 3 in the morning, typical scotts. Anyhoo, around 430, we decide to head out. When I went to put on my jackets, both wear full of vomit, I flipped out! So now I,m intoxicated and pissed off bad combo. Rosemary said shed clean then so I left them there. So now its cold again and both my jackets are not here, looks like I'm staying inside. tear......

one long [trip]

Last week I took a trip. here are some highlights....

+train to berlin, hang out in the little airport for a flight to pisa

+get into pisa, and get super lost looking for our place, which turned out to be a caravan, yikes

+pisa is worthless, and engineering disaster turned tourist trap

+ catch the train to casteleon, where the rest of the kstate kids are, excellent to see everyone

+basket takes us to cortona, the next town over, gorgeous

+two days in florence, tons to see. michelangelo is a freakshow! the david is too perfect for words. I almost wept.
lots of architecture to see, it was kinda surreal seeing buildings you've studied in books...

+on to rome, not as cool, but still nice. except for the basterds selling things, for a minute you’d think this is great and then they'd totally ruin it by sticking some crap in your face. saw the pope, when to church in st. peters. saw more of michelangelo’s handiwork

+we needed to get back to pisa for the flight back, so we went to the beach in loo of more roman concrete. such a great idea, cinque terra was so hot; sun, sand, and ice blue water

+back to berlin, i'm in love with this place. once again total destruction of a city gives it the chance to be amazing.

well that was the trip in a nut shell, the sad part is my charger for my camera was lost; it turned up behind adams bed sometime this week, how? Most of us had no clue what was going on, but I think I understood it by the end. Anyhow, this is the craziest game ever. The two teams beat the crap out of each other and then have a huge party, its great. The visiting team pays for a few kegs and lots of food. All of the rest of our friends left, but Adam and I stayed behind and had a great time drinking and eating with about 60 of the craziest people I have ever met. It was kinda lame so I left fairly early. This time I didn’t wonder to the other side of town and get totally lost, which is nice. Today, studio and getting train tickets are on the agenda. Unfortunately for my motivation, spring has finally sprung. Things are beginning to get green and the spring fever is taking over people’s minds. The sun is shining, birds are singing, and bees are trying to have sex with them; or so is my understanding. Anyhoo, the park sounds like way more fun than vevtorworks. It was a great trip, here’s some highlight.

_ Thermal baths- really relaxing, lots of fun and lots of old balls. Tourist wear shorts, real men do not.

_ House of Hungarian Wine- Cheap, two hours of fun. I got kicked out, not for being drunk, rather being there over the two hours. No one else got the boot, they all stayed for another hour. Luckily I had just bought a bottle of wine and a Cuban cigar, so I had my own party atop Budda Castle hill at sunset.

_ St. Steven’s Cathedral- huge church, extremely ornate. I finally got some sketching done. On Sunday I went to mass there, it was in Hungarian but I git the gist of it.

_ Hungarian Parliament- Huge building, lots of gold, but no U.S. Capital.

_ Budda Castle- Big and green, from all the copper.

_ Labyrinth Under Budda Castle- This was like a haunted house in the ancient caves and passageways under a castle. I totally got lost, but it was worth it because I just stated scaring random people that I encountered.

This has been my favorite city that I have visited yet, but I have a feeling it will be dethroned on the Italy trip next week. Because I packed the morning of I forgot my camera, so all I have to show is this sketch I did of St. Steven’s.

If you have read this far, I should hope you comment, the man is watching……

Easter, only a week late..

Wow, I guess I haven't posted in while.... Anyhoo, nothing too exciting going on here. Easter was great! I hung out in Old Town Square all day long. There I bought my Easter Switch... The next day was Easter Monday, which cut my workweek to just Tuesday. In the Czech Republic Easter Monday is similar to our Halloween. Boys knock on doors asking the girls of the house for candy, If the refuse its customary to whip their backsides with their bundle of switches. The say is true for the young men only we went looking for booze. Tons of fun, lots of drinks and screaming girls! This week I also saw Frank Gehry's Dancing Building, oddly enough it wasn't a total letdown. The rest of the week was spent working on various projects, the same for today.

Easter in Old Town Square_

Gehry's Dancing Building_

p.s. notice the new counter, now I know people are coming and not leaving comments, do you really want that on your conscience? It wasn't the biggest or the nicest zoo I have ever been to, but they had so many animals I have never seen before. Lets just say it was more than lions and tigers, though they had those too. I saw an anaconda; lots of strange huge birds including a few that could easily pass as dinosaurs, and of course my new favorite penguins. After the zoo I went to mass in a great little chapel in a monetary behind one of the biggest churches in Prague. For some reason there are no palms here, so we used pussy willows instead. It was actually really nice, I most of that has to do with the chapel. As per usual it was sangria Saturday followed by some bar hopping till the metro opened up. Today I have lots to do and have slept through most of the day already.

Where Did Last Week Go?

I just noticed that I haven’t posted anything in a week, how did that happen? I actually have been doing homework and what not most of the week. Wednesday was the good old Erasmus party for the Greeks, somehow the party was dead, but we managed to have a great time anyway. Thursday was St. Patrick’s Day, Unfortunately it’s not a big deal here. We tried to go to an Irish pub in Old Town but it was packed. So Molly and I went on an adventure to find this place the Scotts were. We totally got lost, which is likely he most frustrating thing ever, eventually we found it. As we walked in they were playing Postal Service, and continued to play great music all night. I later met the guy that owned the place; he is from Seattle while waiting in line for the wc. Turns out the place turns into a speakeasy on Saturdays, and I know posses the password, pretty sweet. We stayed till they kicked us out at around 5 just in time to jump on the first metro of the day. I’d have to say it was the most fun night I have had here. No joke. Last night I just stayed here because there is little that could have competed with Thursday. Today Molly and I may run out to see the zoo; it’s going to be super nice today. Then tonight is Sangria Saturday, each week the party gets bigger and the sangria gets better. I think it’s the Scotts turn, we’ll see what they come up with. Oh, and probably some homework in there I hope…..

This is the Charles Bridge crossing the Vltava going up to Prague Castle.

Observations.......

This is such a weird place; my whole world is completely upside down. I go to school for two days and then have a five-day weekend. It’s just strange. Last night we went to a big club downtown. It was 80's night; needless to say this brought the tourists out in masses. To many English-speaking creeps for me, I busted out around two. I just couldn't take anymore, plus I had awoken at 7 to go to the site for studio.

I have been here a little over three weeks, and the following are some observations of this place and its people.

a_ Old Men Love Trash: I stood outside a metro stop waiting to meet some people and every man over 60 stopped to check the trashcan. Right after each other, as the first one had somehow missed something. Most don't actually stick their arm in, but a few do. In the states watching kids fall at the skate park was my favorite observation sport, this has to be its European equal.

b_ American Charm Does Not Translate: I'm not saying I can talk to girls in the first place, but that’s when we share a language. My international dialogue is usually only good for about 3 lines, and then the awkward silence ensues. I decided last night that I might as well just smile and walk away saving two minutes of my day.

c_ Gypsies Have Fast Hands: I saw this one from two feet away. As per usual, waiting for a tram in the wee hours of the morning. Gypo's approached and offered their services. They soon left, with Adam's cell phone. As much as it sucks, it was pretty amazing. I was impressed.

d_ Your Speak English Let's Be Friends!: As sad as it is, it’s just easier. I have deemed it "The Coalition of the Willing". Actually its more the U.S. and Scotland......

e_ Escalators Make Bad Slides: You know that voice in you head that goes "Yeah I could slide down this hundred foot escalator, that would be fun". This thought should be dismissed immediately. If not look out limbs will be broken.

more later this things getting way too long

oh wait! I haven't pulled any picures off my camera in a while, but heres some adobe crap I have been working on....

I'll do one

Last night, well I over did a bit. To my surprise a little Czech guy rolled up on stage. He was well, ass naked and almost every pose he was in his little zapper seemed to be looking right at Drew and me. Needless to say it was a little uncomfortable at first but by the end it was not so weird. Except the uncircumcised unit was a first for me, I like the clipped version better, but perhaps that’s just personal preference. The picture isn't a dude, but I think the obese lady gets the point across. After that we got some food at lampshade, then quietly rocked out downstairs in the club. Tonight is the American presentation, which I take no responsibility for, followed by a party. Should be fun, except they play horrible music, I'd say at least six beers to tolerate it, better start drinking.

as always check out more pics at my other page
http://homepage.mac.com/aaron.schump/

Five Floors... There were five floors with different music on each floor. It was kinda expensive for here, I think I spent like 300kc, which pissed me of for a minute. Soon after I realized its like 17 dollars, so not bad for being out till 6 in the AM. Tanner, Adam, and I went for pizza when we got moving at 16:00. We picked some party goods on the way home. Tonight…….Sangria…….

<link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://aaronschump.blogspot.com/2005/03/five-floors-one-crazy-evening.html' title='Five Floors... Its freezing here. Wendsays the student club in the basement opens up, and is always a good time with cheap beer. Last night the DJ didn't show, so one of the Czech kids took over. It was a strange mix of techno and bad american disco. Lucky for us, there were a few Czech students at the airport to help us find our way. Turns out Adam and I have the same buddy, and well she is super cute but I’ll get to that later. The first week was extremely busy, mostly just book keeping things. In America we have these things called lines, in Prague people just bunch up at doors, not only does this take forever, it will piss you off real quick. I think it all stems from the fifty or so years of communism here, people are just nuts. Really it’s OK because beer is about one U.S. dollar. The beer here is amazing, it tastes great and for the mass quantities that I have consumed I still haven’t gotten a hangover. How convienent? So, after a week of lines and Parties we went Northish, I think to the Mountains for my first alpine adventure. After lessons and three days of falling, I’m still sore. This week I’ve been “shopping” for classes. Here you go to whatever you want for a couple weeks, then decide which class to take. While the days are spent in class the nights are in the pub. Oh, wait back to our buddy, Adam has already madeout with her and sent her packing. Last night we went to an international student party at probably the nicest dance club I’ve ever been seen. It was lots of fun, to say the least. Today I was awoken by the cleaning Lady around nine. Nothing else to do till photography class at 16:30. Tonight there is a Czech presentation in the club down in the basement and then, you guessed it another party.

the scotts, abi, tanner, and molly on some hill

snowboarding break fo adam, tanner, and myself atop the mountain

steve and tanner sceezing on some czech lady
